Firber, Digestion And Preventing Some Cancers

Firber, Digestion And Preventing Some Cancers: "Firber, Digestion And Preventing Some Cancers

What Goes On Inside? (Your digestive System)
Your well-being depends on what you eat, when you eat, how you eat, fluid intake and how well your food is absorbed. We absorb everything we need to sustain life through our lungs, digestive system and skin. A robust digestive system is central to our well-being, tirelessly extracting the fuel and nutrients we need from the food we eat. It is vital that we are aware of protecting our digestive system.

We ingest many negative things that upset out well-being. Junk food, inadequate or poor quality fluids, pollution, alcohol, tobacco and other smoke and stress, all effect the efficiency of the digestive system. When our digestive system is not functioning at its best, the rest of the body suffers. Nearly all the nutrients we need come from the food and drink we consume. Some things that affect the digestive system and our health are:

Poor diet that is lacking in fresh fruits and vegetables and/or has excess intake of sugar ad saturated fats
 Eating when stressed or angry
 Irregular eating, missed meals
Eating just before going to bed
Eating too fast, not chewing foods
Lack of fibre (you need 20 35 gms per day)
Lack of good bacteria in the gut
Lack of gastric juices in the stomach
 Lack of digestive enzymes
Drinking less than 2 litres of water a day

This is now explained in more detail
Junk food, processed foods, refined sugars and flour products are more difficult to digest and do not supply good nutrition to the body. Make sure that natural whole foods and fresh products provide most of your daily food intake. These help your digestive syst"

Fight Cancer With Broccoli Sprouts

Fight Cancer With Broccoli Sprouts: "Fight Cancer With Broccoli Sprouts

Fight Cancer With Broccoli Sprouts
By Jeannie Crabtree

Mom was right to insist on us eating our vegetables. She knew they built health and gave us the minerals we need.

Take Broccoli sprouts. Broccoli sprouts are rich in a compound that provides significant protection against breast cancer and colon cancer. The compound is called sulforaphane glucosinalate.

Sprouts grown from certain types of broccoli seeds contain up to 50 times more of this compound than mature broccoli.

I have read that a brand of sprouts developed at John Hopkins University is guaranteed to have 20 more times the SGS compound than the mature broccoli. This one is called BroccoSprouts. You can purchase broccoli sprouts at your local health food store or grocery store.

It is possible that Broccoli sprouts could carry the
bacteria that make you sick - salmonella and e.coli, so you may want to take them out of the container when you get them home and soak in a bowl of water with a few drops of grapefruit seed extract for three or four minutes.

Don't put the sprouts back in the same container unless you soak that as well. After draining them for a few minutes store them in the refrigerator.

With Breast cancer and Colon cancer so common these days, be sure to add in this protective food, assisting your body to fight off illness and cancer."

Extra Weight Increases Cancer Risk

Extra Weight Increases Cancer Risk: "Extra Weight Increases Cancer Risk

Next time you take another bite when you arent actually hungry, you might want to think about what else you might be opting for, besides an extra scrumptious morsel -perhaps it could be cancer.

One of the most important steps you can take to lower your risk of cancer is to maintain a healthy weight. Most of us have been hearing about genetic and environmental pollutants for so long that we think cancer is beyond our control, but in fact, more than 50 percent of all cancers can be prevented with a healthy lifestyle. While most people are aware that a healthy weight can reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, osteoarthritis, gall bladder disease, and sleep apnea, few realize that it can also lower the risk of some of the most common types of cancer, including breast, colon, and endometrial cancer.

Are You a Healthy Weight? A healthy weight is defined by a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or lower. Higher than 30 is the medical definition of obesity, which usually marks the threshold researchers define as associated with increased risks. To find out yours, go to

Breast Cancer
According to the Harvard Nurses Health Study, women may be able to lower their risk of breast cancer by keeping their weight steady. Compared to women who gained less than five pounds during adulthood, those who gained more than 45 pounds had 40 percent higher risk of developing breast cancer after menopause. The more weight a woman puts on after menopause, the more estrogen her body produces- and the higher her risk of breast cancer. Overweight women are often diagnosed with breast cancer at a later stage, when it is more difficult to treat.

Recommendations For Early Breast Cancer Screening

Recommendations For Early Breast Cancer Screening: "Recommendations For Early Breast Cancer Screening

Women need to empower themselves about the benefits and risks of mammography and examine the additional screening tools available today. One current philosophy suggests breast health screening should begin at age 25. Where does this recommendation come from and why is this valid?
For MOST women, the recommendation for annual breast cancer screening begins at the age of 40. Unfortunately, the American Cancer Society stated that the number one cause of death in women between the ages of 40-44 is breast cancer. So what does this mean for women? It means that we screen at age 40 and potentially find tumors that have been growing for an estimated 8-10 years. Mammography, like most conventional tests, evaluates structure.
There exists a technology that can detect an issue YEARS before a tumor can be seen on X-ray or palpated during an exam. This technology has been approved by the FDA as an adjunctive screening tool since 1982 and offers NO RADIATION, NO COMPRESSION AND NO PAIN. For women who are refusing to have a mammogram or those who want clinical correlation for an existing problem, digital infrared thermal imaging may be of interest.
There are very strict protocols both for testing and interpreting. Perhaps due to these guidelines, thermography (as with all digital technology) has exploded in its technique and capabilities. Thermal cameras detect heat emitted from the body and display it as a picture on a computer monitor. These images are unique to the person and remain stable over time. It is because of these characteristics that thermal imaging is a valuable and effective screening tool. Tumors or other breast diseases measures warmer than surrounding tissue and can thereby alert a physician to a problem before a tumor is actually palpable. "
